DEI pays tribute to loss of an employee
by Staff Writer, Dale Earnhardt, Inc. - October 14, 2005

MOORESVILLE, NC – On Thursday, October 13, Dale Earnhardt, Inc. lost a friend and co-worker.

Angie M. Safrit, 33, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. She has been with the company since 1994.

This weekend, her teammates will pay tribute to her life by placing a memorial decal on their race cars. The decal will be displayed on the “C” posts of the No. 8 Budweiser and No. 15 NAPA Chevrolets in the Nextel Cup Series. They will also be on the No. 8 Bass Pro Shops, No. 11 Menards and No. 81 Menards Chevrolet in the Busch Series race.

The flags in front of DEI’s corporate headquarters are flying at half mast in Angie’s honor, as well.

“Angie was an integral part of Dale Earnhardt, Inc. for the last decade,” said Judy Queen, Vice President of Operations. “She started out in the brick building with Dale and Teresa and was a major part of DEI’s growth.”

Angie is survived by her husband, Scott Safrit, and a three-year old daughter, Rachel. She is also survived by her parents, Jimmy and Phyllis Miller of Kannapolis and grandmother, Clara Kidd.
